For my project, I have decided to focus on getting the proper amount of protein. I struggle with this because I have chosen to stop eating meat. I decided to do this in grade 9. I am a University athlete, so it is important for muscle recovery and growing to eat properly. For this project, I will log the meals and meal prep I do that ensures I am eating a high protein diet.

I looked into how much protein I should be getting in a day. Things I considered were my gender, age, height, weight, and activity level. I searched up how much protein a 5’9 19 year old female should get, then added female athlete. Michigan State University did some research on “Protein Intake for Athletes”, and is states that athletes should get 0.5-0.9 grams per pound of body weight. This means I should have just under 75g per day. That means about 25g per meal.

Without mentioning the athlete part, most sites said that I should be getting about 50g of protein per day. If I eat 3 meals and snacks, that is about 15g per meal and 5g for snacks.
